Rodent Control
Rodents are arguably the most significant pest globally for mankind. The three most common pests, the Norway rat, the roof rat and the house mouse are present on every continent and the problems they cause range from damage and loss in food production (through both consumption and spoilage), structural damage and disease transmission. Rats are known vectors of many human diseases such as leptospirosis, typhoid and even salmonellosis. Rodents harbour serious diseases of the intensive livestock industry including several bacteria and viruses.
Rodent control is therefore an important area of pest management and anti-coagulant baits are one of the key tools used to achieve this.
Bayer Environmental Science has been involved in rodent control for more than 40 years coumatetralyl (the active ingredient in Racumin) was first discovered in the 1960’s and is still one of the most effective and suitable options for farm-rodent control in Australia. Racumin is ideal for use in areas where bait shyness in rats may be a problem, or where there are potential concerns about secondary poisoning risks.
