Rodent Control

Rodents are arguably the most significant pest globally for mankind. The three most common pests, the Norway rat, the roof rat and the house mouse are present on every continent and the problems they cause range from damage and loss in food production (through both consumption and spoilage), structural damage and disease transmission. Rats are known vectors of many human diseases such as leptospirosis, typhoid and even salmonellosis. Rodents harbour serious diseases of the intensive livestock industry including several bacteria and viruses.

Rodent control is therefore an important area of pest management and anti-coagulant baits are one of the key tools used to achieve this.

Bayer Environmental Science has been involved in rodent control for more than 40 years. Coumatetralyl (the active ingredient in Racumin) was first discovered in the 1960s and, with its low secondary poisoning potential, has been a key product in rodent control around the world since then. In Australia we now offer both single feed (Rodilon) and multiple feed (Racumin) bait options for the professional pest manager.

Rodilon is based on the very latest rodenticide active ingredient; difethialone; and the combination of unsurpassed bait palatability and the power of difethialone makes it one of the most effective options available. It is ideal for use as the initial bait in a management program to bring about a fast level of control of the population.

Racumin is ideal for use in areas where bait shyness in rats may be a problem, or where there are potential concerns about secondary poisoning risks.
