Give Program
The Give program is Bayer Australia and New Zealand’s community investment program, aligned to the Bayer Mission Statement: “Bayer: Science for a Better Life”. It allows Bayer as a corporate entity to make a positive impact in the areas in which we operate and helps to fulfil our role as a socially responsible corporate citizen. Bayer believes it has a responsibility to work hand in hand with the community as part of our company goal to “benefit people and improve their quality of life”.
Give provides a tangible way for employees to live some of Bayer’s core values such as ‘respect for people and nature’ and ‘sustainability of our actions’. It also supports our employees in the community and charity activities that they embrace outside of work. This reinforces our philosophy towards providing more than just a ‘job’ for our staff. We aim to increase their work-life balance, bolster pride in working for Bayer and look at new opportunities to broaden their horizons and their skills.
With the challenges we all face in the current global economic climate, not-for-profits are experiencing greater demand for support from the community, in turn requiring greater support from those in a position to help. Bayer is committed to supporting the community for the long term.

Aussie Helpers
Bayer has recently embarked on a new partnership with Aussie Helpers, a charity that works tirelessly to tackle the issues created by the worst drought Australia has seen in 100 years and improve life for those “doing it tough” on the land.Help comes in many forms from Aussie Helpers. They have around 40 volunteers who mainly work via the ever faithful "Bush Telegraph" to find farming families who are in desperate need of assistance. They deliver hampers of essential goods, provide informal counselling and help in whatever way they can whether it be delivering a truckload of hay to keep the starving stock alive or giving a Christmas present to a child whose family is already deep in debt trying to keep the farm going.
The main focus for Bayer’s investment will be the Aussie Helpers Training Farm located at Mathoura in New South Wales, near the border with Victoria. Here Aussie Helpers will train up disadvantaged young people providing them with skills and helping them create a future for themselves.
“Support from companies like Bayer is invaluable,” says Brian Egan, founder of Aussie Helpers. “With this initiative, these young people will have the opportunity to obtain some on-farm training and employment, while the farmer gets the benefit of having labour on his farm, helping to keep the farm profitable and alleviating some pressure from himself and his family.”
The long-term partnership between Bayer and Aussie Helpers will see Bayer employees volunteering during company time at the farm and fundraising. The partnership will also make use of Bayer products and networks in the rural sector.
